The Corn Women
I was very excited to be invited to take part in IMPRINT in Newcastle Upon Tyne in Ocotber 2012. I collaborated with Zoe Simon and Bela Emerson who have been involved in my previous art projects. This Feminist exhibition appealed to me because of its strong interest in collaborative relationships among female artists. In my practice it is key to freely improvise tableaux vivant like constructions in a very poetic and intimate manner. Collected research material was presented without a set narrative framework, focusing instead on strong visual symbolic connotations of sexuality, magic and rituals in our folklore and traditions. In IMPRINT we carried out an exploration into the symbolic meaning of the corn goddess and the notion of a ritual.
